Planning

 The next step of our project is planning. This is the time where we think of which conventions, we want to incorporate and which ones we will leave out. There were a lot of conventions seen and noted. However, we can only fit so much into a minute-long video.  

Props: Since the song is about women getting what they desire through their own earnings, the scene where we are at the mall props such as money, shopping bags, and what we buy will be used. The individual scenes won’t have props that go with the music, but rather the actions made by each actor will be a representation of the music.  

Costumes: We will be all dressed in different attire for our personal scenes. But there will be a point where we are all in one scene, so we will color coordinate our outfits. We haven’t chosen a specific color yet, but we will decide once we see everything. 

Schedule: 

11/15/20: We researched conventions that were in R&B music videos. We picked and chose which conventions will work best for our music video. 

11/17/20: We established the props, costumes, location, and backup plan for our music video. Scheduling took a long time because we had to find dates that worked for everyone. 

11/20/20: Our storyboard of the 1-minute music video will be finished. 

11/21/20-11/29/20: We will start filming and recording the required shots to make our music video. Also, editing of this music video will take place during this time. 

Locations: We will have more than one location. We will film at a football game, park with a track, Sarah’s job, and the mall. We are trying to display independent women at various locations doing things that exemplify what independence means to them. 

Backup Plan: If we are not able to do the different scenes, we will just  change our scenes according to whoever can’t make it. For example, one of our group members needs to be at the mall to be an independent woman so we’d change her scene into being a single mother. That’s something that can be filmed at their home and won’t need much. If we can’t find one color to color coordinate everyone, we will keep looking around in different stores to find something that suits everyone.
